Stainless Steel Hand Washing Trough with Knee Operated Taps – 442mm Projection

Product Code WTA-KV

The WTA-KV stainless steel wash trough provides a practical hands-free handwashing solution, supplied complete with knee-operated time-flow valves and fixed chrome-plated basin spouts. Operating the water by knee reduces the need to touch the taps by hand, making the trough particularly suitable for workplaces, food preparation areas, healthcare support areas, workshops and other environments where hand hygiene is important.

Manufactured in one piece from 1.2mm thick stainless steel, the WTA-KV is available in four standard lengths for 2–4 users. Each washing position is supplied with a chrome-plated knee valve and fixed deck-mounted spout, providing a complete multi-user handwashing solution ready for connection to the site water supply.

Knee Operated Time-Flow Valves

The WTA-KV uses knee-operated valves to control the water without the user needing to operate the tap by hand.

Pressing the knee control starts the water flow, which then automatically shuts off after approximately 15 seconds at 3 bar water pressure. This helps reduce unnecessary water use while allowing the user to wash their hands without touching conventional tap handles or controls.

The chrome-plated knee valves are supplied with 15mm compression connections.

Basin Spouts & Water Supply

Each handwashing position is supplied with a fixed chrome-plated deck-mounted basin spout.

The knee valve controls the water supply to the corresponding spout. Interconnecting pipework between the valves and spouts is not supplied and should be provided by the installer to suit the individual installation.

Where temperature-controlled warm water is required, a suitable thermostatic mixing valve can be incorporated into the water supply. TMV3 mixing valves are available as an optional extra.

Hands-Free Handwashing

Knee operation is particularly useful where reducing hand contact with washroom fittings is desirable.

Unlike conventional taps, the user does not need to touch a handle, button or lever with freshly washed hands to stop the water. The timed shut-off also means the water automatically stops after use.

This makes the WTA-KV particularly suitable for applications such as:

  • Food preparation and food processing areas.
  • Commercial kitchens and catering environments.
  • Workshops and industrial workplaces.
  • Healthcare and clinical support areas.
  • Laboratories and technical work areas.
  • Commercial and staff handwashing facilities.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Clean the stainless steel trough regularly using warm soapy water or a mild detergent. Avoid bleach, chloride-based cleaners, steel wool and other aggressive or abrasive cleaning products that may cause staining or damage to the stainless steel surface.

Chrome-plated valves and spouts should be cleaned with a mild non-abrasive cleaner and soft cloth to protect the plated finish.
